Stay Here: Washington, D.C. 🇺🇸
Hello! We’re back and this week, we’re heading back east and talking all things Washington, D.C. This city has a special spot in Ophelia’s heart, as she lived here for a few months in college. We love it here because the energy here is truly palpable and the city carries a sense of purpose and passion. The diversity of the city comes through in D.C.’s art and food scene, as well as the stays. We hope you enjoy and are inspired by the stays we’ve selected!

The Line Hotel
Adams Morgan, Washington, D.C.
Starts at $170/night
View stay
This hotel “repurposes a century-old 1912 neoclassical church,” according to Metropolis. We are in love with the stunning vaulted ceilings, grand windows, and the pipe organ repurposed as a chandelier in the lobby. This is the second location of the Line (after the Line’s LA flagship in Koreatown, Los Angeles).
The herringbone floors, the eclectic mix of art, the pops of color in the textiles — we love the personality that shines through in this hotel.
Eaton DC
Downtown, Washington, D.C.
Starts at $201/night
View stay
According to Arch Digest, the Eaton DC building was once a printing press in the 1940s, and a bus station in the 1960s. The retro designs and spunky color palette go together perfectly.
We love how the dark tiles and countertops pair with the golden brass touches.
The greenery in this space is giving us life!
Oasis in Capitol Hill
Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.
Starts at $224/night, sleeps 6
View stay
This 100+ year old townhome is a calm, serene, self-proclaimed urban oasis. The earth tones, brick wall, and warm textures of the blankets and rug contribute to these vibes, a perfect contribution to one of Ophelia’s favorite subreddits, r/CozyPlaces.
Outdoor space in the city is such a luxury! We love this minimal patio.
Honorable mentions
This vibey Bohemian style hotel in Dupont Circle (starts at $188/night).
This downtown DC hotel with an eclectic style at a great price point (starts at $149/night).
This art filled, color apartment with a patio (FYI, the host does prefer month-long stays - starts at $115/night).
Do this
A few of Ophelia’s favorite things to do in DC, paired with Alice’s recs (that are much more up to date!). Thank you again for letting us outsource these recs to you, Alice!
Undoubtedly, the most magical time of year to visit DC is when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, typically March-April. During peak bloom, walk around Tidal Basin or grab a paddle boat to soak in the views.
Take advantage of free admission to almost all of the Smithsonian museums. Alice says Yayoi Kusama is currently on view @ Hirshhorn Museum until November 27, 2022 — line up for same day tickets! Alice also recommends Planet Word, a word/language museum.
To drink: Silver Lyan (expensive cocktails but really artsy and delicious)
To eat: China Chilcano (José Andrés restaurant - Peruvian Chinese that’s more inventive), Moon Rabbit (Vietnamese fusion brunch spot), and Founding Farmers (best deviled eggs Ophelia’s ever had!)
To get your pastry fill: Yellow the Cafe is the sister cafe & casual concept to Albi, which is a Mediterranean place that just won its first Michelin star this year! They have a baklava kouign amann and other amazing pastries 🤤 We also recommend Call Your Mother bagels, which are also a classic!
