Stay Here: Philadelphia, PA 🔔
Apologies for being slow on the newsletter front lately — life has been a little (maybe a lot) crazy, with lots of travel happening for the both of us recently. We’re excited we got to carve out time to write this week’s newsletter, which brings us back to the east coast. We’ll be talking all things Philly, as Ophelia just returned from a trip to the city of brotherly love to visit her sister.
As always, you can browse through all our newsletters if you're looking for other cities to travel to.
Roost East Market
Philadelphia, PA
Starts at $193/night

Whenever Ophelia visits her sister in Philly, she’s always tempted to splurge on a stay at Roost, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects. There are several locations of this beautiful hotel situated throughout Philadelphia, including in the Rittenhouse, Midtown, and East Market neighborhoods. These apartments are cozy, sophisticated, and impeccably furnished.
Roost East Market even has a 20-meter heated lap pool and is the “city’s largest rooftop pool.” This looks like the perfect situation for summer!
Lokal Hotels
Old City, Philadelphia, PA
Starts at $296/night

We love the mix of textures in the first location of Lokal Hotels in Old City. This hotel was started by a husband and wife duo and designed by the talented folks at Jersey Ice Cream Company.
We love the hand-plastered, textured walls, the wooden accents, and the sea blue paint color.
The mix of modern light fixtures, simple mid-century modern shapes, and textured wooden walls is sublime.
For a more modern aesthetic, the Fishtown location of Lokal Hotels could be right up your alley.
Modern Retro Chic Studio
University City, Philadelphia, PA
Starts at $130/night, sleeps 2

How chic is this studio apartment in University City? This ideal window nook with vintage spinning chairs is adorable.
Honorable mentions
This studio inspired by Japanese minimalist design with a chef’s kitchen (starts at $214/night, sleeps 3).
This “XS House” is small but architecturally mighty and has everything you’ll need (starts at $122/night, sleeps 4)
Mulherin’s Hotel only has four impeccably designed rooms and is situated right above an Italian eatery (starts at $259/night).
Eat this
Put your name on the waitlist for cancelations at Zahav, the city’s best Mediterranean restaurant. This was definitely our favorite meal, and we got off the cancelations list the day before we arrived (thanks to Angie for grabbing that res!).
Grab a cocktail at R&D in Fishtown, and walk around the neighborhood. Stop by Helm for dinner — where you can BYOB.
Touristy, but for a reason! Stop by Reading Terminal Market and grab a Philly cheesesteak at Carmen’s. We didn’t get a chance to try Geno’s or Pat’s (rival cheesesteak places across the street from each other).
