Stay Here: New York City π½
And... we're back! We took a programming break (due to going on our own vacations) but are back with a newsletter for one of the best cities in the world: New York, New York. Both of us absolutely love this city and will use any excuse to visit the concrete jungle. ποΈ
Ophelia was in NYC a few weeks ago for a childhood friend's wedding and was reminded of how incredible the city is. Ophelia and her sister saw their favorite comedian Trevor Noah walking around in Tribeca and freaked out β not sure how New Yorkers stay so chill with constant celebs sightings. Teach us your ways!

This recommendation from Ophelia's roommate, Amy, was "once home to the famous George Washington Hotel, and to some of the most prominent artists and writers of the past century." Freehand was designed by famed NYC-based firm Roman and Williams with the Sydell Group.
According to this Remodelista feature, the team focused on "restoring the building's interiors while modernizing them with commissioned murals."
We love the mix of textures, styles, and vintage flair.

While Ophelia was in NYC last month, she stayed at Arlo Midtown, which just opened a few months ago. Arlo Midtown was gorgeously designed by Meyer Davis (who has designed restaurants for Michelin star chefs Daniel Boulud and Jean-Georges Vongerichten).
You can also check out their amazing sister hotels in NYC: Arlo Soho and Arlo Nomad.
We love this "oasis in Midtown, [...] outfitted with green tiles, plant life, and whimsical hanging moss installation.

This charming banquette feels like a chic 1950s diner.
We love the soft color palette and calming tones.
Honorable mentions
Public Hotel in Bowery is impeccably designed. We love their sophisticated open lobby bar area (from $239/night).
The Hoxton Williamsburg is the Hoxton's first US outpost, and the soft pastel tones are gorgeous (from $319/night).
This eclectic brownstone in Brooklyn with pops of color ($158/night, sleeps 2).
A cute studio with gorgeous open kitchen shelving ($110/night, sleeps 2).
Do this
Eat your way through Brooklyn: snag a reservation at Lilia (which has the most delicious pasta Ophelia still dreams about), Rule of Thirds (haven't personally tried, but was highly recommended), and Okonomi (for a yummy Japanese breakfast).
Shop your way through Brooklyn: Ophelia loves visiting McNally Jackson Books, LEIF, and Homecoming, and has always wanted to visit Brooklyn Grange, a rooftop farm.
Walkthrough East Village to get your pasta fill at San Marzano. Raku has the best Japanese udon, and Oiji is an amazing Asian fusion restaurant (don't miss out on their honey butter chip dessert)! End your night with drinks at Mr. Purple and their beautiful rooftop view.
Comedy Cellar is a classic NYC institution, and many top comics (like Jon Stewart) start their careers here. Be sure to buy your tickets in advance!
Walk down the High Line and bop around the galleries in Chelsea. Make your way to the Whitney, and stop for food and drinks at Chelsea market!
